Blimey, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

[First of all... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HARRY POTTER!]

I solemnly swear that I am up to no spoiler.

Voldemort had split his soul into 7 parts, 6 souls in 6 objects (called Horcrux) and the seventh on his self. He couldn't die until all horcruxes had been destroyed. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret, Harry had destroyed one horcrux, Riddle's Diary. Then in Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince, Dumbledore had destroyed one horcrux, Marvolo's Ring, and found another one, Slytherin's Locket (see the picture on its cover, beside!), but that was fake and had been replaced by someone initialed R.A.B. Dumbledore guessed that the forth horcrux is Hufflepuff's Cup, the fifth must be one of Gryffindor's or Ravenclaw's stuff, and the sixth is Nagini, Voldemort's snake. But then Dumbledore died, so Harry, Ron and Hermione had to continue the task for destroying the remainder of Horcurxes.

Who is R.A.B? Where is the other horcurxes and how they find them? In this book, Harry, Ron and Hermione didn't go back to Hogwarts for finishing their last grade school (7th), but they went anywhere to search for more horcruxes. Are there really 4 horcruxes left? And what is the Deathly Hallows? Horcruxes versus Hallows, which one will be Harry's priority now?

I was really exhausted when reading this book. Not just because I had to read the english version (which spent me 3 days to finish it, helped by dictionary of course), but also because there are so many fights along this book from beginning until the end. Yeah, not like the six books before which have the strained situation only in the end part, this book had started to strain on chapter 4! Can you imagine that? When I finished reading chapter 4, I put down the book for a moment...did this really happened? did Harry really meet Voldemort and....(OK, OK, no spoiler!)...in this chapter??! Merlin's pants, it is awesome (and awful)! Maybe that's one of the reason why I can stand to read it until the end (you know, this is my first Harry Potter book in english version that I read, I had tried reading the sixth book in English but I directly stopped it on the third chapter...decided just to wait for indonesian version *grinned*), the second one is of course because (HEY!) so many people out there really like spoiling me so bad (finally I'm free, hell yeah! ^^).

This book made me tear so deeply, especially about Snape (y'all must read it, dude, MUST! Then give him some respects). I cried on 4 parts, which the last one was in the end. That's why when I finished the book, I couldn't stop crying for half an hour. Rowling had said that 'scar' would be the last word in this book. Well the fact, it's not. But, scar is indeed mentioned in the last paragraph, the last line.

The book also made me jump happily, especially when I read the beautiful name OLIVER WOOD there. He's just a very supernumerary character (figuran), but I was so glad Rowling didn't forget about him. Yeah, there are many characters who appeared again. This is war, seriously!

These are my favourite quotes:
"It's traditional to give a wizard a watch when he comes of age," said Mrs. Weasley, watching him anxiously from beside the cooker. "I'm afraid that one isn't new like Ron's, it was actually my brother Fabian's and he wasn't terribly careful with his possessions, it's a bit dented on the back, but--"
The rest of her speech was lost; Harry had got up and hugged her.

"He must've known I'd run out on you."
"No," Harry corrected Ron. "He must've known you'd always want to come back"

Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure. [Rowena Ravenclaw]

Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. [Albus Dumbledore]

You were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew. [Harry Potter]

Mischief managed!

  1. Hi there, I know you finish the books a long time ago, but I just finished them like two months ago and couldn´t resist talking about it..

you know, one day (right after watching the 5th movie) I just decided that I wanted to know more about the story before actually seeing it in the big screen, so I started reading the 1st book, and then the 2nd one, and then I found myself having read all of them ...

And I loved them!, I´m Mexican ,so I read the 6 books in spanish, but the last one I had to read it in english not just because I didn´t want to wait for the translated one =P, but also because Iwanted to truly feel what J.K. had written for the very end of the series.

I must say, it was an incredible experience being part of this magnificent adventure that made me jump from my seat and laugh with such unexpected good jokes, that brang tears to my eyes with an intensity any other book had not been able to do, and that really made me feel like having other 3 best friends there by my side.

Well, that´s all I needed to say (or write), and I hope you understand my words since, as I told you before, I´m not an English speaker...

  2. Hey Mauricio (your name is like my italian-teacher's name :D), I even ever rolled my body on the bed and screamed when reading Goblet of Fire (was so excited when Harry was being chosen :D).

I didn't read the first 6 books in english, because I was afraid I couldn't understand them well. I don't want to miss anything at all, even the unimportant small thing in that Harry Potter world :D

btw, welcome to wizard world :)
    wanna try this?

Jeju Island in 3 Days

Jeju Island, the Hawaii of Korea, where couples usually go for honeymoon, and the place of many UNESCO Nature Heritage sites, is really beautiful and romantic. Some people say we need to spend at least 1 week to explore and experience the most of this island, but in my opinion 3 days are enough. Trust me, many places in Jeju only look good in advertisement, they're good at selling it. There are no interesting places in the North and West part of Jeju Island, so you can focus on East and South. East and South parts are amazingly naturally beautiful! Here's the itinerary I recommend.

Day-1: East of Jeju Island

Manjanggul / Manjang Cave
Spending time: 30-45 minutes
Hallasan, located in the middle of Jeju Island is the only volcanic mountain in Korea. It created several small volcanic mountains throughout Jeju Island, called Oreum in Korean. One of the biggest Oreum is Geomun Oreum, famous with its large lava tube system and designated as a UNESCO Natural Heritage site. It has few l…

Review: Homestay Cahaya Sikunir Dieng

Transportation in Jeju Island

These are some remarks regarding public transportation in Jeju.
Buses in Jeju Island accept Seoul's t-money card. You can buy and top-up it in convenience store, like GS25 and Family Mart.City buses normally charge 1000won for cash, or 950won for t-money card. If you pay by card, tap it to the machine when you aboard and when you alight. If you transit between 2 buses during a certain times, fee for the next bus can be 0won, or free.Intercity buses vary depends on the distance, usually between 1000-3000won. There's no different fee paying with cash or card. When you aboard the bus, tell the driver about your destination, he will tell you how much it is, and you have to pay there directly. If you pay by card, no need to tap it again when you get off. There are 2 bus terminals in Seogwipo city. The main bus terminal is in the south-east of downtown, near the Jeongbang Waterfall, which is also the old one. The second one is to the right of the E-mart in front of the World Cup Stad…
